1I don't even like being on the phone. I like talking to people. I like engaging with people and being able to look in their eyes.
2I'm terribly hard on myself. I don't do anything that I don't believe in.
3You spend your life collecting; people, gestures, mannerisms, a look in the eye, the way somebody laughs. They're the kind of threads that you can use in the weirdest of places. And then you'll suddenly think; I'm doing that, from a guy that I saw on a tram in 1997.
4I have to say. I kind of love all that stuff - those physical challenges. I guess there will come a time when I'll get sick of it but at this stage, I just like it all.
5I'm really keen to go back and do some theatre, but I can't afford to at the moment because we're getting married in September. And then I'm hoping to direct a film at the end of this year, and that means a year of your life without pay.
6This is an area you always need to address when you're dealing with Dracula is the fact that there is something kind of attractive in his darkness - which there isn't in other horror characters.
7My most difficult thing so far, to be brutally honest, has been to waltz as if I knew what I was doing.
8You have to sort of see the way that the character behaves, and what the character says and does, and claim it in the same way that you claim anything, really.
9You know honestly I think there's a Dracula, a Wolf Man, and a Frankenstein's Monster in all of us. They are sides of our own character so that's why I think we can relate to them in terms of a 'I know how that feels' kind of thing.
10Dancing with Kate Beckinsale made me very excited.
11I don't really have preferred roles except those with some complexity.
#Fact

2For his performance as Hamlet in the Belvoir Street Theatre production of "Hamlet", he was awarded the 1995 Variety Club of Australia Stage Award, the 1994 Sydney Theatre Critic's Circle Award (Best Performance by an Actor) and was nominated for the 1995 Green Room Award (Best Actor).
3His directorial debut, 'Romulus, My Father', received a record-breaking 16 nominations in the prestigious 2007 Australian Film Institute Awards (AFI), including Best Film and Best Director.
4Son Raphael Roxburgh was born February 2007.
5Met Italian actress Silvia Colloca during the filming of Van Helsing. He played Dracula and she played his wife. They got married a year later in Tuscany, Italy.
6Was listed as a potential nominee on the 2005 Razzie Award nominating ballot. He was suggested in the Worst Supporting Actor category for his performance in the film Van Helsing (2004), he did not receive a nomination however.
7He appeared in two films where Victorian British characters are altered in an action packed fantasy setting: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) and Van Helsing (2004).
8He has two roles in common with Christopher Lee, Frank Langella and Anthony D.P. Mann: (1) Lee played Count Dracula in ten films from Horror of Dracula (1958) to Dracula and Son (1976), Langella played him in Dracula (1979), Roxburgh played him in Van Helsing (2004) and Mann played him in Canucula! (Dracula in Canada) (2008) and Terror of Dracula (2012) and (2) Lee played Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace (1962), Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady (1991) and Incident at Victoria Falls (1992), Langella played him in Standing Room Only: Sherlock Holmes (1981), Roxburgh played him in The Hound of the Baskervilles (2002) and Mann played him in Sherlock Holmes and the Shadow Watchers (2011).
9Assumes a different accent and octave-level for each character, with his character's voices ranging from the wimpy screech he used as the Duke for "Moulin Rouge" to his rich, deep Romanian accent as Dracula in "Van Helsing.".
10The mouth piece he wore as the Fantom in "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" (2003) distorted his voice so much that he had to redub his dialogue for the film's release.
